Back from UK Tour

I've been home about a week after two months on tour in the UK. I was doing "Confessions of a Mormon Boy" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (the largest performing arts festival in the world) and then in London's West End at the Charing Cross Theatre. Either of these was a dream come true, but together made one of the most dynamic artistic experiences of my life. There were extreme highs and lows, but ultimately I feel I was forged in new ways as an artist and person that I cannot even begin to mention in this blog. Doors opened and I have renewed energy and confidence in what I have to say. Basically, I am still on a mission as I share my story all over the world: 1. God is so much bigger than any church. 2. We can turn our lives around.

I am back in Utah surrounded by my mountains. I love it here. I have my kids around me, which is the reason I am here. Their love has transformed me. I have a simple and serene life now. I will always love my cities, but here in Utah I have time to think, focus, create. I am off to St. Mark's Episcopal this morning where I attend church. Today I am sober, abstinant, and focussed on kids, career, and being well. I have high, high job satisfaction with plenty on the horizon. I know the value of hard work and the importance of the American values that give us incentive to work this hard. I have dreams that are not grandiose, because I know I am willing to work for them. And that God is co-creating with me.

When all else Fales, get sober and say "please" and "thank you". That's the only prayer we need to start.

THE TONY AWARDS

I'm about to watch the Tony Awards with great anticipation. I hope to be wildly inspired and entertained. I'm in Salt Lake City tonight, but my heart is on Broadway. This should be quite a night in the history of Mormondom, as THE BOOK OF MORMON as the title of their sacred text is about to become the most talked about musical in a very long time. What's next, DIANETICS? I haven't seen The B of M the musical yet, but I am just sure it's gonna win all the Tony's! We shall see. I'm hoping it does! But remember, "Before THE BOOK OF MORMON, there was a MORMON BOY!"

Closing Down THE MORMON BOY BLOG (For Now)

Dear Mormon Boy Friends,

I'm going to be shutting down my blog at www.mormonboy.com/blog in the near future. THE MORMON BOY BLOG has served it's purpose. It has documented the highs and lows, comments from friends and "enemies" of the last two years. All of the content of THE MORMON BOY BLOG will be archived and and many of the themes in the posts and comments will be re-cycled into the articles and essays of the future.

I created this new blog last year and I will be putting more into it. I will always be "The Mormon Boy" but I am also a human. And like any human being, I evolve as an artist as well.

Keep Smiling!

Humor and Info in 2011

I am continuing to make the transition from "Mormon Boy" to Steven Fales. There will always be something about me that will be "Mormon", but we are going to be moving on in the next decade. Though there is still much to wrap up, including THE MORMON BOY TRILOGY, I have a new stand-up show called WHEN ALL ELSE FALES. I want to give humor and information I come across that has helped me "recover" my life as a human being. Sure, I'm a dad. Sure, I'm gay. But above all, I'm human. I hope to not get too political as I find politics absolutely absurd today. But what we all share are values. And a sense of humor. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
